Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important representative said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
