The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
